History
An International Wholesale Bank Focusing on Africa
Bank of Africa United Kingdom Plc was launched in 2007 under the name Medicapital Bank PLC, created as a specialist bank connecting international finance with the fast-growing opportunities across Africa.
On 1 September 2010, the Bank's name was changed to BMCE Bank International Plc, reflecting its integration into a broader international financial group. It was later renamed Bank of Africa United Kingdom Plc on 1 November 2021, aligning the brand with the wider BANK OF AFRICA identity.
Today, the Bank is headquartered in London and maintains a branch in Paris, France, positioning it at the heart of major global financial centres.
A Strong African Heritage
The Bank is part of the BANK OF AFRICA – BMCE Group, one of Africa's leading financial institutions with a long-standing presence across the continent.

This heritage underpins our understanding of African economies and strengthens our ability to support clients operating in both established and emerging markets.
Connecting Global Finance With African Opportunities
Our dual presence — in global financial hubs and across African markets — enables us to identify new opportunities, build cross-border partnerships, and support the financing needs of African institutions and corporates.
Our specialist teams deliver world-class deal structuring and distribution, while our extensive distribution network helps sell and place debt or equity raised by African institutions through well-established international financial channels.
